This program is designed for the martial art hobbyist, the self-defense enthusiast, or any responsible citizen looking to make more empowered decisions about their personal safety. A program that mixes the brutal efficiency of dirty boxing and kickboxing, a dash of stand up grappling, and a generous garnishing of Criminal Justice material sprinkled on top that aims to turn good citizens into good fighters.

My name is Joseph, but you can call me Joe! I started my fitness journey in 2019 and became infatuated with the impact exercise can make on your daily life. In November of 2021 I started personal training and instantly fell in love with coaching. Now I'm continuing my journey at IPA and nothing excites me more than the opportunity to truly get to know someone and improve their life. I believe in meeting you wherever you're at and individualizing each workout to best fit your fitness goals. I coach our early morning group classes Monday through Friday.

Hello all, my name is Heidi! I’ve been doing CrossFit for over a decade now, over half of those I have been here, training with Coach Aron and Iron Phoenix Athletics. Once I started at IPA, I just couldn’t stop! I absolutely LOVE it! I wanted to be a kids coach for a long time, but my nerves got the best of me. Then, in 2018 I finally made the jump! A few years later our Kids Club is stronger than ever and we are loving every minute of it. Now I also help coach our evening adult group classes on Thursdays and occasionally other evenings when needed too.
Hello everyone, my name is Joe! I'm the owner of Brown Insurance in Woodburn, Oregon. I joined our gym community in August of 2013, I've been hooked ever since! I've been around sports of some sort my entire life, always looking for that next thing, the thing that could carry me into the future as I aged. I tried global gyms & 24 hour fitness centers, but nothing quite fit. Until I heard about Functional Fitness and then came... CROSSFIT! I became a coach in 2019. In 2021 I started our popular Saturday morning group class and continue to pitch in as needed in our community.
Hi, my name is Dari. I became a coach to help those who find themselves in the same situation I was once in over a decade ago…doing random things at a local gym and getting no results. When I joined IPA, I started learning about how to move better, eat better, and finally started getting results! I also found accountability and strength in the IPA community. Coach Aron truly cares about helping each of us become better versions of ourselves, both physically & mentally, and I’m here to help others do the same! I coach our Tuesday evening group classes.

Hello, my name is Noah Linhart. I started at Iron Phoenix Athletics in late Summer 2024 as an apprentice coach and have been doing martial arts since I was 17. I wasn't athletic at all as a kid and spent a long time feeling frustrated and overwhelmed about my own fitness, but Aron and the IPA team helped me change that. If you feel like you're not enough or feeling like you've fallen through the cracks I want to help you. I specialize in coaching people who suffer from mental disorders like anxiety or depression. My main focus is building the T.R.U.E Empowerment Self-Defense program here at IPA. I'm available Monday through Friday evenings.

My background is service in both the U.S. Marine Corps and Oregon Army National Guard, deploying overseas during Operations Anaconda and Iraqi Freedom, as well as a decade of retail management. I've been training and coaching for well over two decades, leading warriors, athletes, and our local Salem-Keizer community alike.
